psychic_effective | M'gann 001 [Video: New Bark]

[It's a confused jumble of images when the video feed first turns on. The camera gets jostled every which way, like the person holding it isn't used to managing a phone with just her hands. A set of pale fingers cover the screen for a moment as well, before she picks out what she's doing and pries them away.]

"Is this...Okay, hello, Megan! Now I think this is how it works-"

[A second after saying that, a face finally comes into view. A now Caucasian and very normal Earth-girl M'gann looks at her new almost-like-Earth phone, trying to keep her face fixed in something curious and friendly...But there's plenty of other emotions flickering up in the corners of her eyes and mouth. Mainly confusion, uncertainty...And maybe even a little panic, from how tightly she's clutching the device.]

"Good, I finally got this working! Um...Hello, whoever is getting this? My name is Megan." [Might as well go with an Earth name for now.] "And I'm afraid I'm a little disoriented. But first I wanted to ask if someone happened to lose a...Well, a kind of intimidating looking horse? That's..."

[She really can't believe what she's about to say next, but a look over her shoulder reminds M'gann that her eyes aren't playing tricks on her.]

"...On fire? There's one that's wandering around, and keeps following me. If you need help finding it, I'd be glad to give a hand since it isn't wandering away from me."

[And sure enough, peeking out from behind M'gann there's a horse with a nice, bright mane of fire with its eyes fixed on her. And which M'gann keeps trying to shy away from, not noticing that there's an oddly worried look in those big eyes.]

"So, um...A little help that I could give or receive would be much appreciated?"

"...Oh." [Time of a little self-concious shuffling.] "Sorry, it's just that's not entirely normal where I come from. At least when it comes to horses."

[Other things bursting into flames and tossing around fire? She's used to that with people, even if it's a touch uncomfortable for her; animals, not so much.]

You don't need to apologize. [Aww, Megan.] Besides, in your defense I don't think there are many places flaming animals would be considered normal. At least we don't have anything like that. [PEOPLE, yes. Firebenders mostly... but...]

"This is different for you, too?"

[A glance back at her new partner-horse-friend, before M'gann continues.]

"I'm starting to figure out she's okay to stand around. I haven't felt light headed or anything yet. Didn't get burned when she brushed against me, either."

It was when I first arrived. By now I'm pretty used to it. One of my first Pokemon was a Ponyta, Jet. He's as close to me as my starter now, after everything we've been through, and how long we've known each other.

[She smiles and looks off camera as well, motioning for Jet to come over. Kishi is there as well but she's busy with some of the other 'mons at the moment.]

This is Jet. Ponyta and Rapidash have really good flame control, so they don't really burn things or people unless they dislike them. You can run your hand right through their manes and it won't hurt at all-- as long as it's one that you know!

"...That's a unicorn. Isn't it?"

[She does have a talent for stating the obvious. Which M'gann then rushes to fill in.]

"I've never really SEEN a unicorn before; like I've seen pictures sometimes,"

[And yes, she thought they looked very pretty.]

"But never a real one. I didn't know you could find real ones! That's...That's really neat!"

[Sorry Megs, you've just lost Katara a little bit. She offers an intelligent blink in return and looks towards Jet again, then back.] I couldn't say, sorry. I don't think we have anything called a "unicorn" where I'm from. Your Ponyta there will eventually evolve into one when she gets strong enough, though.

"You don't!? Not even in stories?"

[That's...More tragic then she can properly put into words. But maybe her facial expression conveys it well enough?

She can't keep from glancing back at her partner when she hears the rest of that, giving her a thoughtful look.]

"That...That'd be neat, though."

No, at least none that I've read or heard. We don't really have a lot of books and scrolls in the South Pole, and before I came here my friends and I were kind of busy fighting in the war. If there IS anything about them it would be in the library we visited but there's no way to get back to it now.

[She's not really one to ramble, but since they're making conversation about it she might as well explain.]

Sorry, though. I should have introduced myself already. My name is Katara.

[South pole? For a second she wants to ask if people really live there...At least before that memory of different worlds comes up. And the subject of names is addressed.]

"Oh! I'm Megan. Megan Morse, but just Megan is fine, too. And...Katara is a nice name."

[Sounds vaguely, almost Mars-ish. Maybe if it had a few extra syllable gaps, it would be a good fit.]

[She looks rather happy with the compliment, if a little modest.] Thank you. Megan is a pretty name, too. [Not to mention she has a last name. Most people in Johto do, but back home that's usually more of an Earth Kingdom thing than Water Tribe.]

It's nice to meet you, Megan. Welcome to Johto. You're a friend of Robin's, right? [Now's as good a time as any.]

"Well...Yeah, actually. Are you a friend of his, too?"

[She looks a little surprised at that; it stands to reason that Robin's done some socializing while he's been here, but...It's still strange to meet people who are acquainted with him, and she's only just getting to know them.]
