Character
Name: M'gann M'orzz
Series: Young Justice (animated series)
Timeline: post episode 17, "Disordered"
Canon Resource Links: http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/Miss_Martian

Personality:
M'gann M'orzz is an alien who desperately wants to be accepted among humans. Equal parts perky, excitable, and personable, mixed with a surprising amount of uncertainty and deep rooted issues when it comes to self confidence and assurance, M’gann struggles to reconcile who she is and who she wants to be.

Her outward personality is a nice and friendly one, in that sweet, cheerful, girl-next-door sort of way. She smiles easily and has an eternally chirpy voice, complete with a “Hello, Megan!” catch phrase that she uses frequently. In a bit of a paradox, she is also shy and unsure of herself, which acts as a clue that her surface personality isn’t all there is to her. A lot of her more ditzy traits have been adopted to help make a new identity for herself, and give her distance from some uncomfortable secrets and history.

M'gann carries a lot of fear and shame when it comes to her origins as a white Martian. She wants to be seen and accepted as something normal, and is afraid of how people might react if they see she's something other then human. So M'gann covers her fears and short comings up with a sweet girl front and a lot of TV-learned mannerisms. (In fact, nearly all of her Earth knowledge has been gained from watching TV. Which has unfortunately given her a slightly incomplete and very unbalanced view on what life on Earth and among humans is like.) M’gann desperately wants to fit in, have friends, and be accepted by them. Rejection is a crushing fear for M’gann, to the point that her biggest terror is losing the team and family she’s worked so hard to become a part of.

She has a lot of self loathing, doubt, and image issues due to racism on Mars, which she tries to keep buried behind that cheerful girl front. Added to that, a recent mistake of hers in a training simulation that threatened her team hasn't done much for her self confidence. And while she's working on cultivating a better view of herself as a good and valuable person in her own right, M'gann is still a long way off from fully believing it.

Given that, it might actually be a good thing she can still indulge in being an Earth fangirl along the way.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Observant and quick-witted. While she isn't as sharp or has the same mad detective skills as some of her teammates, M'gann still has a pretty agile mind, capable of making plans and picking out things on her own.
+ Team player. M'gann loves being on a team and working with her friends and teammates, to the point she seeks it out over working alone.
+ Friendly/sweet disposition. She is almost eternally cheerful and an optimist, and open towards other people.
+ Cooking. She's learned how to copy many Earth recipes, and is very proud of the fact, exercising her skills often!
+ A mediator and peacemaker. She tries to deflect problems or steer conversation away from confrontation when she can, or does her best to mediate and sooth if that isn’t possible. Above all she tries to keep things calm between her friends.
+ Hand to hand combat is decent, as are her dodging and acrobatics, though this is scaled back. Overall she's fairly athletic.
+ Telepathy. It's the one bit of her power set she gets to keep, and she is going to have many, many silent conversations with her pokémon.
+/- Eager to please, to both a helpful and damaging degree. M'gann will fall over herself to make people happy with her and/or feel better. She wants everyone to feel like part of a group...Which sadly means that she can and will get involved when she shouldn't and doesn't understand the concept of "alone time," or when it's time to back off and stop exerting so much effort.
+/- Priority is always helping people first. Compassion before strategy, in other words; even if listening to orders would be better, she'll always put saving or helping someone ahead of that.
- Self conscious. She's well aware of her short comings and oddities compared to others, which gives M'gann a hesitant streak, and a notable lack when it comes to asserting herself.
- Uncertain. She wavers sometimes in her convictions, and often in her self confidence. M'gann rarely takes charge, preferring to leave the leading and final decisions to someone else, largely because of her doubts in herself.
- "This isn't exactly like TV" could well be another catchphrase for M'gann. She tries to emulate from what she saw from Earth's broadcasts, and having reality and television not mesh up can easily throw her for a loop.
- Mutable identity. She often tries a little too hard to mimic or fit in, and sometimes M'gann's own identity that she's crafted feels almost superficial.
- Afraid of rejection or being seen as abnormal, which is easily the most crippling fear for M'gann, and something she does everything she can to avoid.
- Heat avoidance. While M'gann doesn't have an actual weakness towards fire and high temperatures any longer, she still has a strong innate reflex to keep her distance from the stuff.
- Alien mind. M'gann tries to be a normal Earth girl, she really does. But Earth includes things like a set shape, no telekinesis, and very little mind to mind contact, all of which is a shock for M'gann.
